Surveillance is a way to follow the whereabouts of an individual or a individuals daily activities or past activities.
Surveillance can also be done by physically tracking the person or taking pictures of them participating in different actions or engaging in certain behaviors. A successful surveillance investigation brings a peace of mind to the person hiring the service.
Surveillance is used by governments for intelligence gathering, prevention of crime, the protection of a process, person, group or object, or the investigation of crime.

It is also used by criminal organizations to plan and commit crimes, such as robbery and kidnapping, by businesses to gather intelligence, and by private investigators.
